I n a Kubrick-esque scene, the candlelight of monks and worshippers illuminates the path to the golden orbital glow of Wat Dhammakaya temple just north of Bangkok, Thailand.
The ceremony, in which thousands of Buddhists take part in candlelit evening prayers, celebrates the teachings of the Buddha on Makha Bucha Day.
On this festival, the date of which depends on the lunar cycle, Buddhists aim to purify their minds, do nothing but good and commit no sins.
